Bebo Norman

Bebo Norman

Well, you all are very kind in leaving comments. It’s good to hear from old friends.

I went to a great concert on last Friday night and the premise is worthy of a post. Ona-Lysa won a concert with Spirit 105.3 to sing with Bebo Norman on stage. I posted the pictures, but didn’t offer any explanation. It was a great concert. If you haven’t experienced Bebo, either on CD or in concert, I would highly recommend his music. He’s pretty good.

We had a lot of fun and Ona was treated like a rock star. She doesn’t update her blog, so I have to post about it (easy, I can say that now, I’ve made one post). :) Well, I won’t give it all away because I’m sure she’d rather be the one sharing her amazing experience. Maybe you all should call her and see. And guess what, if you don’t get her, you’ll get a little surprise too! Bet you’re curious now.

Things have definitely happened …

Well it’s been quite some time since I’ve made a post.  I originally started a blog in an effort to stay connected when I moved to Spokane.  As most of you know, I have since graduated and moved back to the west side of the mountains.  I needed a new look, so I decided to convert to a wordpress blog.  Life has happened since and there’s probably too many things that have happened to post of, but I’ll do my best to highlight the big ones.

As I mentioned, I graduated in May from Gonzaga with a BBA in Finance.  A couple weeks after I moved back home, I was offered the opportunity to work at Starbucks here in Seattle at their Support Center.  I’ve been there since May as an intern, in a financial analyst role,  and I absolutely love it.  It’s a great company, a great environment to work in, offers sufficient challenge, and there’s a lot of room for growth and development.  I’m in the process of securing a permanent position and hope to be lucky enough to do so.

So that’s work.  I went to Oahu in July to celebrate Rebekah and Donald’s wedding and met a couple of girls there that I have started a bible study with since we’ve returned.  There are only four of us and we all attend different churches, but it’s fun to have a consistent schedule of meeting together on a weekly basis and figuring out exactly how to have a bible study.  I’ve returned to Puyallup Foursquare Church and really enjoy it.

Went on a few trips over the summer.  Spent 5 days on Oahu, went on our annual Salmon River rafting trip, and went on my second ever backpacking trip.  All were tons of fun and I’ll post some of the pictures on the sidebar.  I think that pretty much covers it, life continues whether we feel ready or not.  My short term goal is to buy a home once I gain permanent employment.  I’ve been looking in Puyallup & Sumner for a small home with some potential near the commuter train.  It’s kind of a scary proposition, but if you want to make any headway, at some point you’ve gotta just bite the bullet.  I’m sure there will be more posts about this adventure in the near future.  Bye for now.

Switchfoot – Friday Night

I went with a bunch of friends to see Switchfoot in concert on friday night. It was lots of fun – they’re great. I have a CD of their’s and liked them and all, but after seeing them in concert, I think I like them more. They kind of get a bad rap from the christian music base, and I’m not sure it’s deserved. I think that they’re pretty cool.

2 weeks left of school!! Yeah!! This next week is dead week – not really sure why they call it that because it seems like it’s going to be crazier than finals week, but whatever. The following week is finals and then graduation on sunday. It’s all going so fast. Time to start packing I suppose. I’ll try to better at updating as we move into these last couple weeks.

time for a post, yeah?

Well, some have recently given me grief for my unfaithful relationship with my blog. So, I figure I better keep them at bay by momentarily wetting their appetite. What a thought huh – my posts wet someone’s appetite – unlikely, but I do realize that from time to time you all are probably interested in what’s going on.
Not too much new to report. I’m nearly a month away from graduating. I just finished my internship yesterday and it’s beginning to feel nice to check things off the list. Pray that I will find the perfect job – even if it’s just a starter job – one that fits my life and who I am and that I can fit in with the company and where they’re going. I have a few promising leads to companies on the west side and feel pretty confident that something will come of at least one of them, but things can still get scary at times. The planner/organizer side of me freaks out at the thought that I’ll be moving in less than 4 weeks and don’t know where I’ll be moving to exactly or if I’ll have a source of income. But sometimes, and I’m realizing this truth now more than ever, my own sense of security can just be an illusion. Really, all our life, whether we feel safe or scared, is not in our hands. There is never point where we’re in control of it all. And it’s times like this where I am exposed to this truth and that I realize that my trust is in One who is trustworthy. Sometimes, I like the illusion of security, but how prideful to think that I’ve got everything planned out and now all that God has to do is get on board. I don’t think that is the way he made us. My life is for him. My accomplishments, things that I am capable of, opportunities ahead are for him, not for me. And so I wait for his plan and trust that he’ll bring it at just the right time.

Needless to say, my last post had absolutely no effect on my blogging consitency. And I was just thinking, I really need to get better at this. But sometimes, quiet is okay, right?

Well, regardless, here’s a little update on what’s been happening, which really hasn’t been much. The newest pictures are from a trip home a few weeks back. I spent some time at home and one of the mornings, went fishing with my dad and brother. It just happen to fall on one of those 17 degree mornings. So we froze and apparently the steelhead were too lathargic to bite. My dad and brother would know; they’re addicts. Corey works and fishes and somehow figures out how to get sleep in between. My dad is almost as bad, but the two of them just feed off of each others excitement and I think my mom just sits back and shakes her head.

I also spent a lot of time with Sarah and Caleb, which was great. I got to see Ona-Lysa too since she’s now back from Australia. So it was just good to catch up. We spent a day in seattle shopping and had lunch at a thai restaurant. Sometimes living in SPokane makes you miss Seattle. And I’m sure the opposite will be true.

School, work, and my internship have been consuming the majority of my time. I’ve managed to squeeze some time out of my schedule to have some fun too. We went and played broomball with a bunch of people late last friday which was a kick. I haven’t played it since high school. We had a great time. We’ll that’s about it for now, I should probably go take care of some homework. Next week is Spring Break, so this will be the last bit for a while … yay!! I’ll do my best to post more often, but no promises :)
