After I got off work this afternoon, myself and a couple of friends went on a hike in Mt. Spokane State Park. It’s been pretty wet over here the last couple of days, but we didn’t let that kill our ambition. So, we were hiking through the woods, probably a couple of miles into our hike going up some switchbacks and I look up the hill through the trees and fog to a very large animal. It was probably 30-40 yards above us. I stopped and asked, “guys, is that an elk or (and I was afraid to say) a moose?” We all waited in silence for what seemed like forever for the animal to move to the side in order for us to decipher what it was. It was definately a moose; the snout and the antlers quickly made it apparent. I immediately responded by saying “we’re turning around” and we moved rather quickly back down the switchbacks. Fortunately, the moose decided to take off and go further up the mountain. Both of us girls, Brandi and I, were freaking out over every little noise that we heard on the way back to the car. Patrick, on the other hand, thought we were crazy and just assumed finish the hike. I can vividly recall seeing video attesting to the aggression of the moose and they’re not quite the size of a deer, in fact they’re huge. Just another day of adventure I guess and now I’ll have a good story to tell.
