In the words of my good friend Elissa, “Praise the Lord, it’ll make you feel better …” I just got a job! I was offered a position yesterday by the manager at the South Hill Starbucks store here in Spokane. Yes, Spokane has a South Hill too, although, contrary to Puyallup, Spokane’s South Hill is the desired section of the city. It doesn’t have the equivalent of Meridian with relentless amounts of traffic. I went in for the second interview yesterday and was really impressed by the layout of the store. I think it was one of the coolest Starbucks I’ve ever been in. Lot’s and lot’s of room that is some-what separated from the counter. I start work next tuesday and find comfort in a constant paycheck. Even though I’ll be making less than I was hoping for, I feel that this is the job that I am supposed to have right now. It’s the only one that I’ve been really excited about. Besides what could be better than breathing, making, and handling coffee and getting paid for it? What a blessing.

40 Days Life Group
A few Sundays ago, I signed up for a life group as our church is going through The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren. Wanting to meet new people and hopefully develop more friendships, I signed up for a group that just included people in their 20’s. Last night was our first meeting. We met at the leader’s house in North Spokane. We had such a good time! There are about 16 of us in the group and we’re all relatively at the same place in our lives. I think I am the only GU student, but many have either graduated from or are currently attending Whitworth. I got a chance to talk to a girl that just returned from Spring Semester abroad in France. She loved her experience and encouraged me to get involved in the Gonzaga in Florence program and study abroad for the 6 weeks that I’ve been looking into at the end of Spring Semester. It was just a lot of fun to connect with people in my age group. I even met another girl attending Whitworth who is from Puyallup. She offered pointers on surviving a Spokane winter! Very valuable information
I heard a rumor in my philosophy class that it’s actually supposed to snow on Sunday. We haven’t even reached November yet, what is happening? Anyway, I’m really excited for this opportunity to meet new people and find out together what God has created and developed and set us aside for. It seems to be like everyone in the group has a real relationship with the Lord and truely want to grow deeper.
A Visit From the Cousins
Two of my cousins, Carrie and Joe were over here in Spokane earlier this week and I got a chance to spend some time with them which was great! Joe was actually working in Jepson, the business building here on campus where most of my classes are, working on installing a Wi-Fi connection for Gonzaga. He walked in to one of my classes and tapped me on the shoulder. Such a surprise! And of course they brought the cutest new little addition, Molly Jane. She’s about 6-months old now and loves to show off her smile. At some point, I’ll be able to add pictures and advertise her cuteness. You’ll just have to take my word for it for now. Actually, she’s on their website if you’re dying to see her. Visit the link http://www.pixelwench.com/forjenn/1.jpg and you’ll see her. There are about 40 pictures posted, but you’ll have to go in one at a time changing the 1.jpg to 2.jpg and so on. Check out #25, it’s my favorite.
